Hello 2010!!

Happy New Year!

Can you believe it’s 2010? Wow.

We had a relatively great Christmas at our house, although it was mixed with some not-so-nice stuff. My grandpa passed away the week before Christmas – while it wasn’t expected, it wasn’t necessarily a surprise. Here and here are two posts that my sister wrote about him.

We also had three rounds of sickness – a nasty 24-hour flu. Mike got it first, a few days before Christmas, and we thought it was food poisoning. Then Kaitlyn got sick in the middle of the night while we were at Mike’s grandpa’s house. (There is nothing quite like having a child get sick in the middle of the night, while sleeping in the same bed as you, when you are in a strange house.)

Then I got sick on the 30th and ended up ringing in the New Year on the couch in my jammies, snuggled up with a bottle of Gatorade and some saltine crackers.

(I declared that it was a sign of what I was leaving behind in 2009, not what I was taking with me into 2010.)

Aside from the negative, we had a good time with our families. My sister Andrea came in from California a few days earlier than planned to attend Grandpa’s funeral and it was really nice to have that extra time with her. In spite of Kaitlyn being sick, we also had a good time with Mike’s family, including his grandpa, mom, and aunt and uncle. The highlight of that time was going to see Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel in the movie theater. It was Kailtyn’s very first movie experience, and she did wonderfully! The only bad thing was trying to explain to her why we couldn’t watch it again.

I have much to say about resolutions and the new year – it’s all rolling around (quite thunderously) in my noggin. I may actually have too much to say… I doubt all of my thoughts will behave well enough to fit into one post. I’m working on putting them all out on paper in a format that will become a series of posts.

However.

I think we all know what happens when I say here that I intend to come back and post something later. It never quite seems to happen.

I would really like to wrestle all of my thoughts out and onto the screen because 1) I want to remember some of what I’ve gone through this year and 2) it might help someone else. And also because I did a great job of following through on my resolution from last year, and it is building towards another one for this year.

How’s that for some suspense? Keep your fingers crossed, say a little prayer that I’ll stay motivated, and this all might actually end up in a blog post someday. (How’s that for a promise???)

I hope you had a great Christmas, and may you have an abundantly blessed 2010!

So about all the not so good at the end of 2009. I'm personally hoping 2010 is one awesome year all around. Wishing you many blessings in the new year.
